PATHWAY-27 includes 25 partners broadly distributed in Europe: west to east, south to north Europe, including one Candidate Country (Turkey). The EU Consortium consists of different organisation types, namely: Universities, Research Institutes and SMEs.

APPLICATIONS SANTE DES LIPIDES (ASL)

 

Applications Santé des Lipides (ASL) is a start up co-funded in 2005 by Gérard PIERONI former director of research at the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Research). ASL activity is focused on the production  and marketing of egg lipid products specifically enriched in DHA for the agro food and complement markets as  well as for drug industry.

ASL is a supplier of egg products enriched in omega 3 fatty acids with a high ratio of DHA versus EPA (>10) and DHA versus α-linolenic acid (≈10). ASL products have been tested in animal studies and in clinical trials on elderly, sportsman and diabetic. The use of these products in respiratory insufficiency is patented. Purified egg phospholipids from ASL, GPL-DHA® 8, have obtained the EC status of "Novel Food" (2010).

Abro Biotec was born in Valbuena de Duero (Spain) as a new biotechnology company. It invests heavily in research that identifies the molecular structures shown to provide specific health benefits. In addition, Abro Biotec also relentlessly tests its products at both the laboratory and clinical levels, using both in vitro and in vivo research to help tailor products to specific health concerns. Abro Biotec´s products are developed for the health needs and concerns of modern science, employing natural polyphenols from red grape of D.O Ribera de Duero as the "raw material." Abro Biotec's activity is fitted inside Biotechnology's Companies (EB) and Industrial Companies, of Services and Commercial (EIB). His principal activities are included in the corresponding areas to:
Development, production, marketing and sale of natural extracts dedicated to food, pharmaceutical industries, of cosmetics, etc.
Rendering of services of scientific and technical research to the food-processing sector of the region.
Company objectives:
1. Provision of scientific and technical research in the agri-food sector in the region.
2. Research biotechnology to increase the added value of our natural extracts, characterizing and quantifying the beneficial effects of the polyphenolic extracts on human and / or animal health.
3. Design, development and standardization of the phytotherapeutic extract and characterization of the active ingredients with polyphenols structure for its implementation in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and nutritional-functional fields.
4. Design a marketing plan based on continued technical arguments of the properties that were shown by biomedical research projects being carried out.
5. Marketing and selling products.
6. Establishment of an observatory for the acquisition of biotechnology patents and technology transfer related to the collection, purification and concentration of polyphenolic extracts of natural origin.

SWEDISH OAT FIBER AB / CREANUTRITION (SOF)

 

Swedish Oat Fiber is a leading supplier of oat bran with high quality beta-glucans. SOF Swedish Oat Fiber AB was founded in 1989 with a dedication to use the highest quality raw material to produce and process all natural and consistent quality oat bran ingredients. Extensive clinical studies have substantiated the health benefits of oat ß-glucans in human nutrition. As it has always been of strong interest to prove the specific functional properties of OatWell® oat bran, many studies have been conducted using this product as key ingredient. This has given extensive knowledge about the functional properties as well as provided substantial proof of the effects of ingesting OatWell® oat bran. The SOF technology is developed to produce OatWell® oat bran, rich in ß-glucan, with high molecular weight and aqueous viscosity for optimized bioactivity. The SOF plant meets the highest possible standards for large scale food production and environmental demands and is, among others, Kosher and FSSC 22000 certified. In 2002 CreaNutrition AG was founded as a fully owned subsidiary of SOF, in charge of Sales, Marketing and Regulatories.
CreaNutrition/SOF has been at the forefront of allowed health claims in Europe. Following an application from CreaNutrition/SOF submitted pursuant to Article 14 of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Panel on Dietetic Products, Nutrition and Allergies concluded that a cause and effect relationship has been established between the consumption of oat beta-glucans and the lowering of blood LDL-cholesterol concentrations and published a positive opinion on a heart disease risk reduction health claim for the consumption of 3 g/day oat beta-glucans (adoption in 2012). Two additional positive opinions from the EFSA include reduction of postprandial glycemic response and gut health.
Swedish Oat Fiber is part of a large network connecting application research and production capabilities, which aims to support product development for extruded cereals, drinks, bars, bakery goods as well as food supplements. Since January 1st, 2013, the activities from CreaNutrition have been taken over by DSM Nutritional Products for an exclusive distribution agreement with SOF outside the Nordic countries.

ADEXGO Ltd. was established in 2004, in order to assure preclinical background of medicine and dietary supplement product development. Since 2007 it has been practicing intensive researches and market work in production and distribution of animal origin functional foods with health-protecting effect; as well as animal feed supplements and additives.
As a result of our development of functional food, in 2010 we introduced to the inland market the product of "GRASS MILK", which contains more of the most important omega 3 fatty acids (for example: α-linolenic acid, EPA, DHA) and conjugated linoleic acids (CLA) due to a special feeding system compared to other traditional milk. Our dairy product-family based on "GRASS MILK" is continuously completed with further products (for instance: cheese, kefir, yoghurt). Besides milk and dairy products, the fellow-workers of Adexgo Ltd. have developed such a functional egg-based product-family as well, which can be applied in the therapeutic diet of cardiovascular illness, diabetes II. and in the therapeutic diet of preventing premature birth.
We could realize the production of functional foods with using supplementary feed developed and produced independently by our company. At the same time this made it possible to put certain marketable products into circulation, which provides a cost-effective solution for the special problems of the intensive-producing economic livestock.
